opheliastorn: It's Make-A-Sue Day*!

* Or week, or month. It's Make-A-Sue Indeterminate Period Of Time!

So, I'm writing a story where the main charcter gets sucked into a fan fiction. But I cannot for the life of me think of something bad enough to call this awful fic. I could probably wrangle up a decent (read: eye-poppingly terrible) Sue to stick in it, but I need help with the title and maybe a smidgen of a plot.

So, why wait? Forget about tweaking your own lovely characters and splurge out on a great fat Sue for me!

A few questions:
- What 'verse(s)? Does she prep for meeting Leggy-poo and then land in Discworld? Is this set in an alien world? Does every body filk songs from 1776?
- Is the thrown-in character the main Sue, and/or does she encounter the authoress's Sue(s)?

Well, gosh. Trust me to not explain stuff properly.

The 'Verse: Have you read any of Jasper Fforde's Thursday Next books? Well, the base 'verse for my story is something like that only instead of Jurisfiction policing proper fiction, my girl gets shanghaied into working with the under-staffed, under-funded fan-fiction department (official name not yet thought about): basically, they're all doing their darndest to cull the absolute worst of all the Mary Sues-type fan fiction out there and aren't having much luck.

The Mary Sue I want help with is the one Janet encounters on her first, accidental, foray into a fanfic (I completely and utterly stole the idea of a person being able to read herself into a book from Jasper fforde. Grovel, grovel) and which she doesn't actually help capture but is taken in to the department for questioning anyway.

Janet is not, I hope, a Sue. Once I've written a bit more of her I'll post her here for everyone to pick at.

Er, I'm having her fall into a Harry Potter fic that her ill younger sister makes her read to her, so that's the 'verse she falls in to.

...not sure what 'filk' means. Forgive me.

Oh, kinda like the PPC, eh? As for a fic title, "haRRy PoTter and Teh New Girl" works as a generic title, or "The Reason They Invented Scumble and Bleepka" is a bit more meta-humorish.

Filks are roughly the song version of fanfic. "Pretty Fly for a Jedi" was a popular one just after Episode I came out, based on the Offspring's "Pretty Fly for a White Guy."

Oh, brilliant. Just when I finally think I have an original idea *sigh*

Well, onwards ever onward. If you want me, i'll be over reading about the PPC, because they look very fun. Will probably now have to rearrange my ficverse so as not to mesh with theirs... cheerio!
